This is my top sandwich spot at Civic Center. Not sure if it's open to the public since it's inside UC Law, but check with the security guard to see if you can dine at the cafe. The sandwiches are one of the more affordable spots in Civic Center. I find that a half sandwich at around $8 is filling. They have special sandwiches, but you can build your own. I always opt for their sourdough where you can taste the sourness. It reminds me of a deli that used to be behind UC Law where they made their own sourdough. Sadly, that closed during the pandemic. So I'm glad I can get the same quality of bread here. And their Caesar salad is so yummy. It doesn't stray from the classic ingredients, but it's delicious because it's so fresh. I haven't tried two of their breakfast options, which were the daylight burrito and the stay woke croissant. I liked the croissant, which was a good size for $10. The burrito was okay, but I'd be willing to try it again in the future. They also have bagels, pastries, beverages, and chips. The staff are hard working and really nice. It can get busy during the lunch hour as students get a break from class. But I found service to be fast. You can also order online, too. I highly recommend their sandwiches so check them out if you can.

Really love this place, the staff are soo nice and they offer really tasty sandwiches, bagels, veggie options and even vegan stuff. My favorite go to item is the Milano and The Italian! So flavorful. The chocolate chip cookies and their pastries are delicious too. I'm just eating my way through law school at a place that feels comforting. I know this is a family-run business and they are locals to San Francisco so I feel its important to support them. They also offer catering services and are open to outsiders too! just learned

Who would have thought there's a cafe inside a law school? This is open to the public. You just need to sign in at the front desk and walk up the stairs. They serve some preboxed salads and made to order sandwiches. I ordered the Milan roll. It had real chicken breast as opposed to processed slice chicken. For $11 this is considered a good deal in this part of town. Service is prompt.

Law Cafe is a small cafeteria at UC Hastings College of the Law. It's on the second floor of the 200 McAllister building. I get lunch here whenever I'm busy at work or don't wanna venture out to the TL. Their soups are awesome. Sometimes they have specials so you can get a pretty good deal. I heard their salad bar was good but I have not tried it yet. I've had the chicken skewers tho which were surprisingly tasty! And the breakfast burritos were huge and delish!! The cafeteria is actually open to the public. And it has a cool outdoor terrance that has plenty of seats. You might want to check it out. Just tell the security you want to eat at the Law Cafe and they will let you in. If you don't know, now you know!

I ruv you, law cafe. Thanks for all those delicious sandwiches (get the #21, turkey & avocado, thank me later) and for not weighing your salad bar. I also think the Law Cafe should get a special shout out for their soups - they are surprisingly good. I especially love the roasted red pepper with smoked gouda; it's straight up orgasmic. I'm not totally convinced they make it all from scratch, but I'll overlook that because really, the soup is the star of the show. I wish they took credit cards, but they will take a check in a pinch. Everyone who works there has always been super sweet to me, even though I'm sure they're run down and hate most of us for being such D-bags.

The Law Cafe is great. I spent three years at Hastings and I loved the law cafe every day. The food is fresh, tasty and the owners are awesome. I have to say we (law students and lawyers) are probably and in all fairness the worst customers. We are argumentative, always stressed etc...For the last 10 years the Law Cafe has managed to please law students, lawyers and the entire Civi Center community. I like everything about the place: the great sandwiches, the premium coffee, the fresh juices, the ice cream and above all Shazi and Ali who go out of their way to please the hardest customers. You have to give credit when credit is due. I also recommend the law cafe for catering events.

There are 2 crucial thing that makes this place worthy of 5 stars. 1. The prices. Things are very, very cheap compared to delis, other cafes, and liquor stores. and 2. The salad bar is not priced by weight. DO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS? It means I get a salad that would cost me 20 bucks at Whole Foods for 6.5 at school. And, unlike Whole Foods, I have not had anything from our salad bar that has made me say, "Ew, what a waste of box space." .... Think about it. This cafe is a magical place. I wish they had french fries.
